Context

Loan Consigned was the starting point of the Neon Redesign Tech Initiative and a core pillar of Neon's B2B2C strategy in payroll loans. The product — Cajá — integrates the processes, operations and channels of Consiga Mais, Biorc and Leve, three companies Neon acquired to build its consigned-loan ecosystem.

The problem

The main challenge is unifying three acquired apps, each with different flows, credit rules, and UI patterns, into a single payroll loan experience. This fragmentation creates inconsistency, increases user friction, and limits product scalability in a highly regulated context.

Process & decisions

01

Mapping three inherited products into one

I started from business flows that encoded mandatory information, business rules and regulatory limitations, then translated them into user flows and task flows — building an empathetic, complete view of the journey before drawing a single screen.

Business flow and user flow: the journey mapped end to end before UI.

02

Guerrilla testing the loan calculator

With a team of three, I moderated guerrilla sessions near the office: real people simulating a R$6,000 loan, choosing installments and opting out of insurance. The calculator and summary screens validated well — and the sessions exposed exactly where information density confused older users, feeding the next iteration.

03

Shipping the heart first, then epic by epic

The app was built across 8 epics — login, onboarding, home, simulation, formalization, order and contract management. We started with the loan simulation, the heart of a payroll loan, and delivered the rest incrementally over four months.

The solution

I led the consolidation of three acquired apps into a single payroll loan experience, redesigning flows, unifying product rules, and standardizing the interface.
